In music class, we learned about South Korea and read "The Ocean Calls: A Haenyeo Mermaid Story," by Tina Cho. This story describes the amazing free divers who dive in Jeju, an island off the coast of South Korea, and follows the story of a grandmother who is a haenyeo diver teaching her granddaughter how to free dive.

This is a "Move It" movement to music choreographed by Peggy Lyman of Sergei Prokofiev's piece "Romeo and Juliet: Dance of the Knights." In music class we learned about Shakespeare's story of Romeo and Juliet, and then danced the parts of the Montagues and the Capulets at the masquerade ball that the Capulets host, where Romeo meets Juliet. Firebird Infernal Dance by Stravinsky
We have been learning about the Firebird ballet, based on a Russian folk tale, with music composed by Igor Stravinsky. Listen closely to for the theme of the evil lord Katschei, with this long fingernails, as well as the theme of the firebird dancing and flying in the sky. Also listen for the theme of the demons, and Prince Ivan, who refuses to look in the eyes of Katschei, as he does not want Katschei to turn him into stone.
