804 API!
Each year, the CDE “adjusts” the API’s (Academic Performance Index, the measure of growth students make on the state testing) in the spring to match the calculations they will be using to compare for the current testing year. This spring, based on the 2009 test results, the CDE reports what is called the “Base API,” which will be compared to the 2010 test results “Growth API.” Our Base API (804) was calculate higher than our Growth API was this past summer (798). The adjustment actually shows a growth from 2008 (802), rather than a decline. Also, remember that the state goal for API is 800, which we are above!
